When I see good design, I'm happy. And I know it.

So if I do my job right, I'm a happy guy. I could ramble for days on the importance of clear and concice graphic design, but scoffing at Comic Sans and turning my nose up at center-justified copy doesn't solve problems. Graphic design in its ideal form takes a message and presents it in a logical and obvious hierarchy of information. The best design takes that message and wrings out the emotion and smears it across the page, all while maintaining a totalitarian grip on order and heirarchy. It highlights the whispers that lie between the lines. It demands an instinctive response. Good or bad.

And that's what puts a stupid grin on my face.

My goal with this site is to provide a glimpse into how I interpret my responsibility as a designer. I take it seriously, but I can't hide the fact that this is my playground. I enjoy what I do.

I am the lead Art Director/User Interface Designer for Servee, a hosted content management solution that integrates editing tools within the site design. I left a great job in July '08 in order to pursue Servee and freelance design work full-time.

For four years, I spent my days working at Highland PR in Akron, Ohio, as the only designer on staff. Three account managers kept me busy with a wide variety of clientele. I was responsible for the entire design process, from chicken scratches on napkins and print quote requests to proof approvals and press checks. Highlights of my time there include a MarCom Creative Award for the 2005 Akron Zoo ad campaign and an Akron Addy Award for the Lorain Library Identity Package in 2008. Both projects are in my portfolio. Otherwise, I designed brand identities, annual reports, marketing campaigns and packaging designs. You're welcome to see for yourself.

I graduated Cum Laude from The University of Akron in May of 2004 with a BFA in Graphic Design. In college, I was one of three regional winners in the National Paper Box competition for a Golf Ball package design. I was also an executive officer of the local chapter of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity for three years, finishing with the Presidency in 2003.

Whenever I'm not playing artist, I'm playing my guitar.
